That Red Dress
It's the time to reflect back on the past year, judge if it has been a good year or a bad one, mope over not having achieved as much and then reinforce last year's resolutions with renewed determination. All this only to forget about them in the second month of the next year.
I read Love in Small Letters by Francesc Miralles earlier this year and while I did not love the book, I remember this paragraph about New Year from the book.
"We’re the ones who’ve arbitrarily decided when the years, months, and even hours start. We shape the world in our own measure, and that soothes us. Under the apparent chaos, maybe there really is order in the universe. However, it certainly won’t be our order."
Yet you cannot deny the magic of the time between Christmas and New Year. There is celebration in the air. Everybody is dressed in their best party clothes, whether they have a party to go to or not. And then there is a chance to begin all over again. To fare better. To rectify mistakes. To hope.
Hope is everything.
So here's wishing all of you a very Happy New Year from the Live Laugh Dressup team, which literally is my photographer brother and I. But we have greater plans for next year. Have a great year ahead filled with love, joy and success.
